Alcohol and Birth Control Pills

As part of our parenthood, we take our yaz lawsuit religiously to prevent pregnancy. We follow word by word the prescriptions and we never miss any single pill. But as a woman, there are some instances that we want to relax, go out and have good time with our friends. In parties, alcoholic drinks are common. Do you think alcohol can reduce the effectiveness of the birth control pill? The answer is no.

Alcohol does not affect the effectiveness of the birth control pill. If you are worrying so much of the bottle of beer you drank during a party, and then forget your worries because you will not get pregnant if you did not miss any single pill.

The only problem that might be encountered while taking birth control pill and alcohol at the same time is when you are an alcoholic drinker. Of course, as we all know excessive alcohol has a bad effect on our health. If it is taken excessively with birth control pill, it may prevent you from pregnancy but you are not excused from the illness it will bring. The liver cannot metabolize the ethanol present in the alcohol because the contraceptive’s hormones may affect its functioning. If these ethanol is not excreted, your body will be intoxicated which is bad for your health. Drinking alcohol can also make a person acidic. An acidic person is prone to vomiting. Once a woman vomits, a portion of the contraceptive pills may have vomited and the effectiveness may have been reduced. If you get drunk, vomited and have an unprotected sex, possible that you will get pregnant.

Alcohol does not interact with birth control pills chemically. But we must be aware that alcohol can have harmful effects to our bodies. We must consult our physician before getting into excessive drinking.
